How we calculate value
Estimated savings are a planning aid, not a promise or a manufactured cents-per-point trophy.
Cash paid
Cash paid includes the traveler’s out-of-pocket fare, hotel rate, taxes, and disclosed booking fees. It excludes ordinary meals and activities unless the story says otherwise.
Comparable public price
We compare against a publicly bookable fare or hotel rate for the same dates, cabin or room category, and materially similar cancellation terms available near the booking date.
Estimated savings
Estimated savings equals the comparable public price minus cash paid. Points are reported separately rather than assigned an inflated cash value inside the savings figure.
Why estimates change
Travel prices move constantly. We publish the booking context and round figures so readers understand the strategy without mistaking an old rate for a live quote.
