Information we collect

You may share your name, email address, and message when you contact us or subscribe through Substack. Comments ask for a name and the comment itself. A trip-planning brief also collects the travel dates, party size, destinations, budget, preferences, and other details you choose to provide. We use that information to assess and respond to your request.

We and our service providers may collect technical data such as IP address, browser and device information, pages viewed, referring URLs, and visit times through cookies and similar technologies.

How we use it

We use information to run and improve the site, respond to comments and inquiries, prepare travel-planning proposals and services, deliver subscriptions you request, display and measure advertising, understand site use, and address technical issues, fraud, or abuse.

Cookies and tracking

Google Analytics, Journey by Mediavine, Grow, and Stay22 may use cookies or similar technologies for analytics, advertising, reader features, and affiliate attribution. The information collected and your available choices depend on the service and your location. Browser settings can limit cookies, although some features may then be unavailable.

Advertising

We use Journey by Mediavine to serve advertising. Mediavine and its advertising partners process information about visitors and their activity to deliver, personalize, and measure ads. This may include disclosures of information that are treated as a sale or sharing under applicable privacy laws. Mediavine’s advertising notice explains its practices and the choices available to you.

Where available for your location, use the control in the Privacy choices section of this page to manage advertising consent. You can also contact Mediavine at privacy@mediavine.com about information it processes. Opting out of personalized advertising does not necessarily remove all ads.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics through the Google tag to understand visits, pages viewed, and how readers find the site. Google processes information under its privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. Google also provides a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.

Newsletter

The newsletter is hosted on Substack. If you subscribe, your email and subscription activity are processed under Substack’s privacy policy. Unsubscribe with the link in any issue.

Reader features and travel affiliate services

Grow by Mediavine provides reader features such as saving content and recommendations. If you use a Grow account or other Grow features, information is also handled under Grow’s privacy terms. Stay22 helps provide travel-related affiliate links and attribute referrals and bookings. These services may process device, browsing, interaction, and referral information; their own privacy notices describe their practices.

Affiliate links

Some links are affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you click through and buy or are approved for a product, at no extra cost to you. We only recommend things we believe are useful. Banks, issuers, airlines, and hotels do not write or approve the opinions here.

How we share it

We share information as needed with service providers that host and operate the site, process inquiries, deliver subscriptions, run analytics, and support reader and affiliate features. Advertising-related sharing is described in the Advertising section and Mediavine’s notice. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property.

Third-party links

The site links out to airlines, hotels, card issuers, Instagram, Pinterest, and Substack. We do not control those sites. Read their policies before you share information there.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and the laws that apply, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information, and to opt out of its sale, sharing, or use for targeted advertising. EU and UK residents may also have rights to restrict or object to processing and complain to a supervisory authority. Write deepvaluetravel@gmail.com about information held by DeepValueTravel. Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, or the applicable age where you live. We do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child sent us something, write us and we will delete it.

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect information, but no internet transmission is fully secure. We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy or as the law requires.

International transfers

If you visit from outside the United States, your information may be moved to, stored, and processed in the United States, where our servers and providers sit.

Changes

We may update this policy. When we do, we change the effective date at the top of the page.
