Stepping into our sprawling Junior Suite at Grand Hyatt Barcelona instantly transformed our city escape into an indulgent retreat. This sleek and spacious luxury hotel blends modernity with relaxed, beachy vibes, offering upscale comforts just steps away from FC Barcelona’s iconic Camp Nou.

Known for its unique architecture, vibrant culture, and delicious cuisine, Barcelona is the perfect travel destination for all tourists. Grand Hyatt Barcelona provides an exceptional base to explore the city, featuring an elegant, contemporary design and thoughtful amenities. The grand entrance and chic lobby immediately set a welcoming Spanish mood, complete with vibrant accents and comfortable lounge spaces.

Booking & Cost

We booked three nights using 21,000 Hyatt points per night (Grand Hyatt Barcelona is currently a category 5 Hyatt property), initially providing 1.1 cents per point (cpp). One day prior to check-in, we received an in-app complimentary upgrade to a Junior Suite (valued around $600 per night), boosting our redemption value to over 3.0 cpp, highlighting exceptional value for strategic travelers.

Location & Check-in

Perfectly situated near Camp Nou, the Grand Hyatt offers easy metro access to Barcelona’s main attractions. We arrived at the hotel from Barcelona-Sants by taking the metro and getting off at the Maria Cristina station.

Check-in was swift and warm despite a busy weekend, and our suite was ready by noon. The staff clearly explained Globalist perks, including complimentary breakfast, lounge access, and provided us with free vouchers for spa sessions.

Room | 2 Twin Premium

Our friends stayed in the 2 Twin Premium Room with a city view. While the room isn’t huge, it feels luxurious and offers enough space for two twin beds and a lounging area. Wooden panels cover the majority of the room, encasing the TV and a large mirror. Near the entrance, two large closets contain a standard closet and another with a coffee maker and mini fridge. A round lamp hangs from the ceiling over the console table between the beds.

The bathroom is tastefully decorated with a double vanity separating the toilet closet and the shower. The green tiles and bronze fixtures consistently provide a luxurious feel across the hotel.

Room | Junior King Suite

Our Junior Suite takes luxury to the next level. The room tour begins with the grand double-panel door entrance, highlighted by a sleek black panel displaying our room number. Upon entering, a large foyer greets guests with a comfortable bench for changing shoes and ample space for luggage. Dark wooden panels and ambient lighting complement black marble panels. Next to the entrance stands a large cabinetry with a mini fridge and a coffee maker.

The suite was astonishingly spacious and pristine. Warm wooden flooring, bronze lighting fixtures, and an elegant wooden desk continue throughout. A plush king bed sits atop a comfortable area rug, accompanied by a lush green headboard. Convenient bedside lighting and blind controls enhanced our comfort significantly. A unique cylindrical, stick-shaped phone, initially hidden on the bedside table, added a quirky yet functional touch. The lounging couch, large enough to sleep an adult, sits next to the wide window offering city views.

Bathroom | Junior King Suite

The lavish bathroom, occupying nearly a third of the suite, features black marble, green walls, and wooden panels. It offers double vanities, a luxurious bathtub, a spacious rainfall shower, a separate toilet area, and expansive closets stocked with robes and slippers. Geometric floor tiling contrasts beautifully with the living area. Privacy shades next to the vanity control the natural light from a dedicated window. The shower and toilet closet both feature luxurious emerald green tiling. Standard bathroom amenities, along with bath salts featuring dried flower petals, were provided for soothing baths.

Food & Service

Daily breakfast is served across the reception desk on the first floor. As Globalists, we received a complimentary breakfast buffet for two. The breakfast was extensive with many standard buffet options, similar to our experiences at Hyatt Regency Amsterdam and Andaz Vienna.  However, food quality at Grand Hyatt Barcelona was noticeably lower, offering nothing particularly remarkable. Coffee quality was average, and service was occasionally slow during peak hours. Overall, breakfast was satisfactory, though nearby cafes offered better value and quality.

Room service provided consistent nightly chocolates and promptly replenished water bottles.

Amenities & Extras

The 18th-floor lounge offered mid-day snacks and beverages but was frequently crowded. The fully-equipped gym was impressively spacious, consistently quiet, and featured abundant natural lighting.

We unfortunately didn’t find time for the spa. The poolside area was beautifully relaxing, with loungers and bar service amidst palm trees, though the hotel lacked convenient water refill stations.

Notably, the hotel provides a comprehensive list of amenities upon request, which proved particularly useful when we needed nail clippers and additional toiletries.

Elevator access requires a room key and floor selection before entering, occasionally causing long waits. We recommend using the stairs to visit rooms on different floors.

Final Verdict

Grand Hyatt Barcelona lives up to its name with expansive suites, a walk-to-Camp Nou location, and attentive service that especially shines for Hyatt Globalists. A busy weekend slightly dulled breakfast and lounge experiences, yet the complimentary Junior Suite upgrade made our stay feel truly memorable. Grand Hyatt Barcelona delivers exceptional value, particularly for Hyatt loyalists using points, making it absolutely worth a return visit as one of our top Hyatt stays.
