Hotel Review: Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere

Overview

Vienna, the imperial city known for its baroque architecture and rich musical heritage, offers a harmonious blend of history and modernity. Nestled adjacent to the iconic Belvedere Palace, Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere reflects this cultural richness while providing a contemporary, stylish retreat. Its proximity to Vienna’s main train station, a major tram line, and a subway station makes it an excellent choice for both business and leisure travelers. As loyal Hyatt Globalist members, we were eager to experience this property during our four-day stay in Vienna. Andaz Vienna not only met but exceeded our expectations with its impeccable service, thoughtful design, and unparalleled convenience.

Booking

Securing our stay at Andaz Vienna required a bit of planning, as we needed two rooms. We booked a four-night stay in the Andaz Deluxe Suite for 114,000 points and another four-night stay in a King Room for 42,000 points, complemented by a Category 1–4 free night certificate. Check out our Germany/Austria trip report for insights on how we scored amazing deals on flights and accommodations. Prior to our arrival, we emailed the hotel with a request for connecting rooms and an extension of the complimentary breakfast to our entire party. The hotel graciously accommodated both requests, showcasing their exceptional service.

Check In

Arriving by train from Salzburg, we found the hotel conveniently located just a short walk from Vienna’s main train station. For those arriving by plane, direct trains are available providing a seamless connection to the main station, followed by an easy stroll to the property.

The hotel’s spacious and modern lobby is a welcoming space, featuring distinct areas for relaxation, work, and socializing, with an inviting bar at its center. Seasonal touches, such as a giant gingerbread house during our visit, added to the warm atmosphere. A mini fridge stocked with complimentary sparkling and still water near the lobby was a thoughtful touch. Our rooms were ready upon arrival, and the concierge offered a thorough overview of transportation options and must-visit attractions in Vienna.

The contemporary design is warm and inviting, with wooden floors and furniture complemented by a plush blue ottoman chair near the king-sized bed. Thoughtful decorative touches, such as architectural prints and modern artwork, enhanced the aesthetic appeal. Free Austrian snacks like Almdudler and Manner wafers, along with complimentary water, were delightful extras stocked in the mini-fridge.

Storage was abundant, thanks to a well-designed wooden closet near the entrance, which included space for luggage, coats, and shoes. A map of Vienna’s landmarks tucked inside the closet was a nice touch for first-time visitors.

The main bathroom in the suite is a standout feature, boasting a spacious layout with a walk-in shower, a separate bathtub, and a double vanity. The heated floors provide an added layer of luxury, making mornings and cold winter nights especially comfortable. The double vanity is equipped with all essential bath amenities and toiletry sets. Although we did not use it, the suite also includes a voucher for a complimentary shoe-shining service, with instructions for easy redemption.

Amenities

Andaz Vienna’s amenities are equally impressive. The 24/7 gym on the 4th floor offers state-of-the-art equipment and stunning park views. Guests can also enjoy a spa and sauna, with refreshments available in the fitness center.

Dining options include Eugene21, which serves Austrian cuisine with an international twist, and The Cyclist Café & Bistro, perfect for light meals in an urban setting. The Aurora Rooftop Bar offers panoramic city views and crafted cocktails—a perfect spot for a cozy evening, where we enjoyed spiked hot apple cider and glühwein.

Breakfast

The breakfast experience at Andaz Vienna was nothing short of exceptional. Globalist members can enjoy both an extensive buffet and a made-to-order menu at Eugene21. The buffet features a wide variety of options, including traditional breakfast staples like sausages, eggs, and potatoes, alongside unique offerings such as cured meats, cheeses, and a standout hummus salad. The pastry selection is unparalleled, with an impressive assortment of bread, cakes, and pastries accompanied by a variety of spreads and condiments. For coffee lovers, the handcrafted coffee options, including cappuccinos and lattes, are a must-try and far superior to the buffet’s self-serve coffee.

On especially busy mornings, guests may be seated in The Cyclist Café, which is seamlessly connected to Eugene21 and still offers easy access to the buffet. For travelers with early departures, the hotel provides takeout breakfast boxes.

Activities

The hotel’s prime location ensures easy access to some of Vienna’s most iconic landmarks. The Belvedere Palace, located just steps from the hotel, became our favorite spot for morning runs. Its expansive gardens and stunning architecture provide a serene yet inspiring backdrop.

For those looking to explore further, the D tram line right outside the hotel offers direct routes to the city center, while the nearby Südtiroler Platz metro station provides additional connections across Vienna. One morning, we even walked from the hotel to downtown Vienna, enjoying the city’s charm along the way.
